By: LazerKim As Kim Hyun Joong gain his popularity the love he receives from his growing fan, and the more love he gives to them in return. Love is the ultimate thing that one can give to another person. As I have written in my recent article Work Passion that talks about Hyun Joong professional work attitude, this time he talks about love, how he is as a lover, and his ideal woman to be a part of his life. For the new fans, here’s what Hyun Joong can share with his fans about himself as a romantic Prince!! This video interview was a portion of Love Story Bali two, here’s what Hyun Joong stated in that interview:
KHJ LOVE STORY Bali 2 (Source: leenongkan2)
Kim Hyun Joong stated: Love is a feeling in which both counterparts like each other, isn’t it? I goose-flesh to define love it seems to be too demonstrative and is so disgusting a man and woman like each other, they love each other and that’s all. I dislike a kind of definition such as immortal something ect. Simply we can say love is mutual affection. As for me the ideal woman is modest and smart. Besides, she is not gad around and cares only for me. I am not concerned whether she has double eyelids, it’s enough the merely looks pretty, cute and I don’t mind whether she’s tall or short.
Question: What kind of woman do you dislike?
KHJ: Well, the kind of woman who goes out with men randomly and goes barhopping with men.
Question: Do you believe in love at first sight?
KHJ: Yes I believe so, I tend to fall in love at first sight, it’s my ideal style of love, ignoring her character and the way of talking, I used to be stunned by just looking at her. The moment when I was stunned might be a fateful encounter. I believe in love at first sight and I also experienced, I admit that.
I want to go about woman whom I like first. Thus, I will take care of her with heart and hand. Meeting a woman who likes me first, I may not feel strong charm for her. I need to meet a woman I like first. I want to take care of her more than she does to me. My style of love is to make her feel happiness. If I have to take either love or friendship I will take love. I know there might be some people who take friendship. Let me tell you an extreme allegory, if my wife and my close friend are drowned in water, I will help my wife without hesitation, sorry for my friend though.
MARRIAGE: When I made my debut I said I would marry if I turn 30yrs old. At that time i thought it was far into the future. But thinking that I’m pushing to 26yrs old I realize that the age of 30 would come soon. So I postponed the age to marry to 40!! But if I happen to encounter a good woman I should marry. If I say work is more pleasant than marriage, it seems to be a lie though. i like work very much, I am happy now at this moment I want to enjoy the present happiness a little more. I will marry after enjoying the present happiness. Thus, I will be happier later, because I like kids, I like to have two boys and two girls is the best.
Question: How long can you wait for a date?
KHJ: Probably for three hours. Seven hours is impossible waiting over four hours I will be irritated little by little. Well, I don’t think the birthday is special, so I don’t want my lover to take great care specially on my birthday, rather I like a woman who takes care of me as if everyday is my birthday. Besides I like to do things for others.
LazerKim View Point:
I’m not so familiar with Korean culture and custom that I can only base my assessment pertaining on how Koreans show their love to their partners or display of affection. Hyun Joong is not fond of mushy declaration of his affection, or he’s not demonstrative in terms of relationship. In this interview, it’s not the first time that Hyun Joong mentioned about his opinion on expression of what he feels to his love one. I was quite surprised to hear from Hyun Joong that he can wait for his date for 3 hours!! Well I would think if one really likes somebody he would not mind waiting!!
Talking about marriage, I think Hyun Joong is consistent with his opinion pertaining to this matter. Consistent in postponing, why not, Hyun Joong is still young and I think he’s just right to enjoy life as a single. And the career plans he lay out for himself I would not be surprise if marriage and relationship takes the back seat. Anyway this is his choice whatever, I leave that part of his privacy. Reading from this interview, I think my basic curiosity had been filled up and grateful to him for sharing a part of his romantic side as a real man.
Love at first sight doesn’t only happen in fairy tales, it actually happens in the real life, as Hyun Joong emphasized, it happened to him. In many of Hyun Joong’s interviews and talk shows, he spoke of I think one single person when he was in high school as he met her in a restaurant. He waited for that girl religiously everyday for quite a period, just to look at her but never made an attempt to approach her in that restaurant. Until such time he searched on her number and called her by phone as he started dating her. As he stated, he’s the doer in his relationship, he likes being challenged rather than being chased!!
There’s a video interview in which Hyun Joong talks about the love of his life and watching from the video he looks sad, as he talks about his sentiments over his relationship. He was saying if he is given the chance to choose between love and work, he will choose love although he was still young when the video interview was taken during his SS501 days and had barely started in showbiz. Apparently, he chose his career over his relationship since he broke up with his girlfriend.
In another talk show, Hyun Joong was relating as why he broke up with his girlfriend, and he said, “as time goes we’re growing apart from each other that we just felt we have to end.” Although Hyun Joong do not believe being in showbiz busy schedules might have made them fell apart. In another interview he was asked if he would like to be in a relationship having his career at the same time just like other celebs. He said, “I’m not as good as the other celeb to have their career and relationship at the same time, I still have lots to improve in my ability that I want to focus with, I do not want to leave my girlfriend around while I’m striving, so I’d rather not have any.”
Artists with such dreams and aspirations tend to pour all their time to their careers over the busiest schedule that even time to sleep they barely have it. What more with giving time to hunt for girls they like, and this is true in the world of showbiz. Most of celeb may have relationship but usually doesn’t last long even having a relationship with their co-artist who are busy too!! What more time do they have for each other? Although some are successful having the right amount of time and understanding with their partners and having the same career.
No one can predict relationship or love, that once the cupid struck that arrow into ones heart then they are trap to the love. Specially as Hyun Joong was saying he believes in love at first sight and it did actually happened to him. Well, whatever happens, it’s his choice to deal with, it’s his life, Hyun Joong is a man, he may need someone to be there for him but then again it’s his choice and decision to what he wants. Be where could he be happy, live life to the fullest, enjoy every moment what life has there to offer everyday and live with it. The time to tie the knot shall remain unpredictable.
Romantic Prince in dramas:
In Hyun Joong’s previous dramas which both plots were love stories as Hyun Joong portrayed different characters yet the flower boy image remains in both dramas. His upcoming drama City Conquest though it’s an action drama, the love story is still in the plot and this time Hyun Joong is a totally different character being in love and no matter what character he portrays he shall always be the romantic Prince in his drama project. During his filming in Japan, there were stills shown a gondola which was said to be a scene of a honeymoon!!
In Hyun Joong’s previous dramas he was paired up with two different leading ladies. For BOF he was paired with Goo Hye Sun, and for Playful Kiss he was paired with Jung So Min. Both leading ladies were cute but characters were a bit similar since both portrayed a role of a student same as Hyun Joong in both dramas. In every love story in the dramas, romantic scenes are always the highlight, there always has to be kissing scenes and for more matured love stories there can also be bed scene, but since these scene are shown in TV, the scene are being done in the most discreet way.
One time as I was viewing some Korean drama over at YouTube, I happen to read a comment that says “why does Korean actress could not bring herself to emote on the kissing scenes in the Korean dramas.” I laugh at the comment because I have the same opinion since I have noticed as if most of Korean actress seems awkward when it comes to such scenes, well except for a few that I can appreciate like the lead actress in Lie to Me and Princess Hour both dramas portrayed by Yoon Eun Hye. Among other actress she can at least emote on kissing scenes. At Princess Hour Yoon Eun Hye was a high school student too but she can emote to the scene with feelings of being kissed for real.
Kissing is a natural gesture of showing affection to the person you love, and so I don’t put malice on the said act on camera. The worst kissing scene I have seen was at the drama Kingdom of the Wind. The leading lady was so obvious to be awkward even she’s being kissed by handsome king portrayed by Song il Gook, that obviously she couldn’t even emote or I could not at least see a willing lips to be kissed!! I believe actress need not have to be in an intimate relationship with her leading man just to bring out a simple kiss!! I think it’s just a matter of feeling comfortable with the leading man.
Similar to Playful Kiss, Hyun Joong and Jung So Min did a good work in portraying a young married couple and it shows how comfortable they were as co-actors that made the scenes effective to the audience. In Secret Garden too both lead actors did a good work in their romantic scenes. In all fairness, the actress are the receiving end of a kiss although this act has to be mutual between the couple.
I remember Hyun Joong’s first kissing scene at BOF with Han Chae Young, that he was so awkward that he even asked the staff if he needs to show his tongue in the kissing scene! Gosh he was so naive that I can only laugh!! Then the director said, kissing is not a display of lips on how it should look like but the feelings of kissing and being kissed!! Hyun Joong was so nervous doing so!! He was so cute and naive!!!
In the up-coming City Conquest, we shall see how Hyun Joong matures in the romantic scenes in this drama. The latest stills that we have seen so far was the embrace that showed a lot of emotional tears from Hyun Joong. I have seen some photos of Hyun Joong from different dramas embracing his leading lady , and the difference was quite obvious that in this drama City Conquest, the embracing scene was so emotional and tightness in the act of embrace was rather matured than the other two scenes from the previous dramas. What about the kissing scene which I’m sure there shall be those romantic scenes? We’ll see how Hyun Joong develops to maturity as an actor in such romantic acts.
By simply seeing from the picture of that embrace it somehow touch me already, as I look at Hyun Joong’s face to be filled with emotions of pain and hurt feelings or something but it definitely perceive sadness, if I’m right. It also perceive like a farewell embrace that seem Baek Mir could not let go of his lover!! Oh this must be so sad, after seeing some stills of a honeymoon location set which was so romantic that I can imagine a scene filled with a lot of love and happiness, or some funny scenes there but after which, it’s goodbye embrace! Oh no!!I can’t wait to see those scenes, that over killing my eagerness to this drama!!LOL
A few days ago I read a short post at twitter saying Hyun Joong shall resume his filming of City Conquest soon!! So that explains as to why we don’t see anymore pictures of Hyun Joong in the filming locations. And what we got was a picture of a restaurant owner doing the dishes!! That scene does not include in the drama, may I just clarify that!! LOL Although that picture of Hyun Joong at Jaksal brought a lot of attention to his fans and feeling proud seeing their star idol to be doing the dishes when Hyun Joong is the owner of the said restaurant!! Who wouldn’t fall for this guy’s humbleness!!
Kim Hyun Joong had shared a part of himself over matters in his private life which I do appreciate just to fill in his fans curiosity in the most honest way, that we fans also do respect his private life for himself alone. Hyun Joong has his own way of expressing his affection in terms of love off cam.
And lucky for us fans we got a love letter from him recently, it’s personalize as if we are his partner! Well, in a sense we are, his fans will always be a part of his success and that’s how he always acknowledge you being his fans. His inspiration and strength, that is what we are to Hyun Joong as we value how he sees us, we stay by his side in his journey to stardom.
He’s so sweet can even think of writing us which he normally does specially times like this that he’s in silent mode or work mode! We fans are really lucky to have such an idol who is very thoughtful, and caring. He knows how much we miss him and took the initiative of letting us know he’s perfectly fine!! What more can we ask for, we have more than everything a fan should have from her idol!! A true shared affection between fans and idol!
Kim Hyun Joong in his dramas portraying different characters as a lover having one common ground in the eyes of his fans, as we see him as a Romantic Prince in our heart. A true partnership sharing affection with love and support in our Romantic Prince…
